December Meeting
Greetings Brothers:
We had an excellent meeting this month and turn out was relatively good considering the approaching holidays. The regular business of the Lodge was held prior to holding elections of officers for the ensuing year.
Brothers Kirby Smith, Ed Tanner, and Tom Rosenecker conducted a work detail recently and addressed several maintenance issues in and about the lodge. Again, I would like to thank them for their efforts.
Under sickness and distress it was brought to the attention of the lodge that Bro. Jim Fogle is still in Harborside Nursing Home (formerly Woodspoint) along with Bro. Rip Helms from Elvin E. Helms (formerly Petersburg) Lodge #926. If you are in the area please make an attempt to stop by and visit these brothers.
During our regular meeting, Bro. Mark Evans discussed a flyer he had received from New Haven Elementary School concerning children from our area who are in need of financial aid for Christmas. A hat was passed during the meeting and we collected $102.00 from the brothers present which Bro. Evans will forward to school officials for the cause. If you would like to contribute please contact Bro. Mark Evans concerning your contributions.
The election of officers for the ensuing year was as follows:
Master - Bro. Ed Tanner
Senior Warden - Bro. John Richardson
Junior Warden - Bro. Tom Rosenecker
Treasurer - Bro. Garry Kelly
Secretary - Bro. Ken Rood
Bro. Tanner will formally announce the appointed officers at the installation which is scheduled for December 27th. Bro. Tanner and his corps of officers have expressed a desire to shoot for the Grand Master’s Excellency Award again this year. I urge each of you to assist in this endeavor and support the Master elect and his officers.
The Lodge officers and members will be attending Union Baptist Church on December 30th in order to meet some of the criteria for the Excellency award and improve community awareness and support of our fraternity. I urge any member who is available on that particular Sunday to attend. The Master and at least eight other officers/members are required to attend to meet the criteria. We will be meeting at the Lodge at 10:30 AM and proceed to the Church just prior to 11:00 AM. If you need a ride to the event please contact me or one of the newly installed officers.
I'll again close by thanking everyone for their support and help during the past year. It has truly been an honor and privilege to serve as Master of Boone-Union Lodge.
Fraternally,
